Teacher Accreditation

Teachers who are beginning their teaching career in NSW are required to demonstrate successful teaching experience.

The NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) have developed the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers to describe what teachers need to know, understand and be able to do. It also provides direction and structure to support the preparation and development of teachers.

Catholic Education, Diocese of Wollongong (CEDoW) provides teachers with support and guidance to ensure a smooth transition into the teaching profession. School Principals (or their delegates) are responsible for the mentoring of Early Career teachers, as well as the supervision of the accreditation process.

Once accredited, teachers are required to maintain their accreditation by continuing to meet all professional teaching standards, and by undertaking personal and professional development.

"CEDoW is endorsed to provide Registered Professional Development for teachers accredited at Proficient Teacher".
