WAKAKIRRI 2020

A great story can change the way people think about the world around them. Wakakirri is a performing arts festival where schools from highly varied socio-economic and faith backgrounds across the nation do just that.

A great story can change the way people think about the world around them. Wakakirri is a performing arts festival where schools from highly varied socio-economic and faith backgrounds across the nation do just that.

Wakakirri is Australia’s largest performing arts event for schools - a not for profit registered charity - with partners that include Reconciliation Australia, Bully Zero Australia Foundation and the Victorian Government - inviting all students nationally from Kindergarten to Year 12 to participate - which can be offered within class time to meet curriculum outcomes or form part of a schools extra curricular offerings - with grant allocations available to meet the funding of registration costs for schools in challenging settings.

Wakakirri is often incorrectly presumed to be an educational performance opportunity solely for public schools. Last year 20% of all entries received were from Catholic schools nationally. We sincerely welcome your efforts and advocacy to more effectively communicate the inclusive & sustainable nature of Wakakirri to the many diocesan Catholic schools offices, religious institutes, schools and educators in your network
